I’ve finally completed the Slaves to Darkness starter box. The final component here is the Chaos Lord mounted on a Karkadrak (big big lizard).
This Lord is suitably impressive, arrayed in his deep black armor, wearing a furred blood red cape. In this he follows the color scheme of his followers, the Knights, Warriors, and Sorcerer. He got a little more detail on his highlights and shading, befitting his importance in the army. His flowing cape was done with P3 Sanguine Base, shaded with a mix of Caliban Green and highlighted with Khorne Red and P3 Khador Red Base.
The Karkadrak was done to be more realistic, using big reptiles like crocodiles and monitor lizards as guides. The scaly skin was achieved with a base of Loren Forest, washed with Nuln Oil and Agrax Earthshade, highlighted with Loren Forest/Elysian Green, with some final highlights of Elysian Green and Rakarth Flesh. The scutes along his back got extra highlights, with the central scutes starting Black, highlighted with the same mix as the green scales. The horn on his snout was done in the same fashion.
So the Chaos force is done for now, but I’m sure more is on the way.
